ABOUT

About Me

I am a woven textile artist and designer working from my small studio in Feltwell, Norfolk, where I create handwoven one-off textiles for interior spaces; either as wall-hangings or for windows, framed jacquards and complex multi-directional yarn windings.

Experimenting with weaving techniques - both traditional and modern, and using a variety of fibres including linen and silk, I explore methods to allow visual and textural contrasts to work together in either subtle or more surprising ways; using gradating colours and textures, varying weights, opacity, and pattern.
Alongside more traditional hand woven cloth and jacquard portraits, I use yarn windings, both to express ideas for woven cloth, and to create intricate layered patterns that would not be possible to weave, as textile art pieces themselves.

My Studio

In 2011 I graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Textiles, and began my studio practice at Parndon Mill, Harlow, where I resided for 10 years surrounded by a fantastic artistic community.  Recently my studio and I have moved to Norfolk where I plan to work inspired by my surroundings and slower pace of life.

I weave and wrap to commission from my studio as well as selling through exhibitions both locally and nationally.

I provide a jacquard sampling service for Artists and Designers on my TC1 Sampling Jacquard.  Design consultation is also available.

Working both with Digital Weaving Norway and independently, I provide training and services for TC1 and TC2 jacquard looms which takes me across the country to many colleges, universities and independent textile studios.
